AUSAID commits new funding to malaria elimination in Solomon Islands

AUSAIDAs part of its long-term effort to eliminate malaria in the Solomon Islands, Australia will provide additional $14.75 million over four years to support the distribution of treated bed nets, mosquito spraying and community education, particularly for children and pregnant women. Australia will host a regional anti-malaria conference in Sydney from October 31 to November 2, 2012, to better co-ordinate Asia-Pacific campaigns to fight the disease.

Vietnam and Sri Lanka on the way to eliminate malaria

Despite nearly three decades of conflict, Sri Lanka has succeeded in reducing malaria cases by 99.9 percent since 1999 and is on track to eliminate the disease entirely by 2014...
In an important step toward achieving malaria elimination, Vietnam officially has joined the Asia Pacific Malaria Elimination Network (APMEN).
