Appropriate case management is an important component of treatment of malaria in pregnancy. Pregnant women with symptomatic acute malaria are a high-risk group, and they must promptly receive proper diagnosis and effective antimalarial treatment. Furthermore, these women need to be accurately recorded as pregnant women rather than adults to better understand the incidence of malaria in pregnancy and how pregnant women are accessing and receiving services.
